Beginnings

Hello, and Welcome to Comics by Alex! This is exciting, I finally got off my ass and did something :)

Okay, I’ll be serious for a minute.  This is going to be a kind of “homebase” for me when it comes to my published works, so no matter the series, if it’s by Alex Keller-Nelson, you should be able to find it here.  I’ll also be making a Facebook page for this, in case you don’t feel like emailing me. Holy Crow

So, I was very wrong about something. Turns out, the next volume of Oreimo comes out this week, and NOT a year from now. Obviously, this means I’m not going to finish translating volume 8 by the time it comes out. It also means that volume 8′s translation will be delayed until I finish reading volume 9. But why am I writing this? No one’s read my translation. Oh well, let it not be said that I gave up on a project part-way through.  Time to avoid /a/ for another month.

Oreimo volume 8

So, I’m completely caught up on Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai.  But, instead of holing myself up in a corner of my room, cursing the world until volume 9 comes out, I’ve decided to keep myself busy and flex my translator muscles, scrawny as they might be.  Don’t worry about the comics stuff (because I know you are).  That’s being worked on.  Continue reading

25 or 6 to 4

I thought that yesterday was the end of the month, so I scrambled to get this together (took all of fifteen minutes), only to realize that the end of the month wasn’t for 4 more days. Oh well, have some comics early. This issue’s been streamlined compared to the first one, to encourage downloaders. I wouldn’t recommend reading these on anything larger than a 20-inch monitor, but other than that the quality should be comparably the same.

For those of you who don’t know how to read electronic comics, refer to this post.

In other news, summer is really doing a number on me. I’m just too lazy to do anything, including draw. I really don’t feel like doing anything, since I was scrambling during the school year for all those art and programming projects. Hopefully I’ll get an issue out this summer, and maybe another one during the semester. Does that sound like a good schedule? It does to me, and I generally listen to myself.

Foreplay

Long time no see, huh? There are a number of reasons for this issue being late (late as in not at the beginning of the month), but I won’t bore anyone with those details. Suffice it to say that this book is officially an every-other-month project, so look forward to issue 3 sometime around July. The comic’s at the same store, Gecko Books, so stop by and pick up my comic! I’ll be back in June with some more news, so stay tuned for that.

Plastic Man

I was hesitant to do this because it required _effort_, but eh, it’s spring break, so here you go!

Where Do You Go When You Die? Issue #1 Download here

Reading electronic comics:
-There are some really useful comic reader programs out there right now, my favorite being MangaMeeya. It’s really simple, all you do is unzip the downloaded file to somewhere convenient on your computer, open the ensuing folder, double-click the file “MMCE_Win32″ and voila, you can now read comics on your computer!
-To actually read a comic, locate the comic you want to read via your computer’s folder list while in MangaMeeya, then double-click.
-MangaMeeya is set to read comics from right-to-left(manga-style) as a default, so you’ll need to change this if you want to read my comics correctly. Simply click on “View” –> “Open from Left” and you’re good to go!
-One last thing, remember to keep the folder you unzipped MangaMeeya to intact, that is, all those files you received should be in the same folder, all the time. The program won’t work otherwise.

Limelight

AH! Someone likes my comic! Ha ha, that’s right, it seems word is slowly spreading about the little(not so little) island-boy-that-could. Jason Faris, author of the blog Comic Book Universe-ity, seems to have taken a liking to Where Do You Go When You Die? and has posted a review on his website. One thing I would like to say, though, is that Gecko Books is not the ONLY place you can pick up my comic. It is also available for purchase online at Indy Planet. You’ll find the link to that in the top right corner of the website.

In other popularity news, this site seems to be attracting small amounts of viewers every day. BUT WHERE ARE THE COMMENTS?! I WANT COMMENTS! The first day I put up this website, I got a trolling mexican asking for pictures of my naughty bits. Even if you haven’t bought the comic, that’s okay, as long as I know people seem interested, I can continue to do this. So comment! Comment! COMMENT! Or send me an e-mail :)

For Your Love

I told you I wouldn’t forget about the people not living on the island, didn’t I? Well, I’ve decided to test out a website that’s connected with my printer. Basically, that means I don’t have to print out copies every time someone wants an issue, they can just go to the website. Now, the only problem I have with this method, is, of course, shipping prices. Why should you have to pay $4 just to ship a $3 comic? I’m not exactly sure on the shipping prices, so that’s why this is an experiment. If people like this method, I’ll keep uploading issues when they come out. In order to offer a small compensation for the shipping charges, I’ve lowered the price of the online shop version to $2.50. When it’s stocked, I’ll put up a link to the comic itself on the blog main page. Oh, and forgive the short descriptions and whatnot, I myself am not too sure what the devil’s going on in my own comic :)

For now, take a look at the site I’m using and tell me what you think:
